Saco River Farms offers our Organic CSA farm subscription in many options, as well as Flex Shares. Organic produce subscriptions are available in sizes to fit your household needs. Meat, egg, and dairy options are also available. Our new flex shares (please scroll down) offer the ultimate in flexibility and make wonderful gifts.

The Saco River Farms Organic CSA Farm Subscription

Important information about our Organic CSA Farm Subscription:

• Pickup Location: 29 Weeman Rd, Steep Falls, Maine 04085
• Pickup Times: Wednesday (afternoon), Thursday 9am-6:00pm, Friday 9am-6:00pm
• Our CSA share options contain as much variety and abundance as is available to us on a Maine farm from May through October.  We try to have 4-7 different items and group things that taste good together like heirloom tomatoes and basil. There is always something that will make a delicious salad and occasionally something that is new to you. We do our best to pile on the favorites: carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, cukes, peas, etc.
• Each year’s harvest is a little different, read the examples below for a sample of the variety that will be offered over the CSA season
• Organic CSA Share Sizing (Only available during peak season)
  • Single – This share should feed two adults with a mixed diet (3-5 Veggies per weekly pick-up).    It is a great starter size as you get acquainted with the CSA model.
  • Full – Enough produce to feed two vegetarian adults or a family of four. 5-7 Veggies per weekly pick-up.

COVID 19 Disclaimer Notice: Due to the current crisis, Saco River Farms reserves the right to make substitutions, buy in produce, adjust the contract term, or cancel the 2021 CSA. In the event of cancellation by Saco River Farms, a prorated refund will be given. ALL CSA sales in 2021 are final and no substitutions of product will be made.

A completely customized, flexible investment in fresh, local eating!

 

 

You’ll receive Saco River Farms “Promise Bucks” which can be applied to purchase any of our products at the Farm Stand in Steep Falls, or our Mobile Farm Stand. (Promise Bucks have no expiration. Must be used in whole dollar increments, not redeemable for cash, but may be transferred, bartered, traded or sold.)

 

To determine how much to prepay, consider what your weekly purchases might consist of. Multiply that total by the number of weeks you desire.  You may prepay monthly, quarterly, or annually, depending on what best fits your budget.

Our average CSA customers spend $15-30/week on produce. By joining our Flex Share CSA and prepaying $500, you could get $25 of FREE Promise Bucks” farm credits!  Best of all, Promise Bucks never expire, and can be used at any time. Going on vacation, can’t make a pickup? No problem! Too much kale, ok grab some cheese instead or save the credit for next week. With Flex Shares you can spend your Saco River Farms “Promise Bucks” whenever you wish.  Leave them in your purse or glove box and come by anytime you like.

Flex Shares are available for purchase in $50 increments ($400 minimum).

OPTIONAL:  pre-order your weekly pickup & have it ready & waiting for you.  Otherwise, first come, first served.  Our chickens only lay so many eggs & there’s only so much milk in a goat!

What is a CSA Farm Subscription?

A CSA Farm Subscription is a partnership between a farmer and the consumers who use, and enjoy the fresh goods produced on the farm. CSA shareholders (Members) pay up front and get a broad variety of the freshest, in-season, locally grown deep organic produce direct from our farm. In essence, shareholders are buying a portion of the farms harvest, sharing in both the bounty and risk, while taking an active role in the production of the food they consume.

Your CSA share investment in our farm provides us with needed income to purchase inputs for raising our animals and produce, as well as developing new products!  You are not only investing in us, but in the many local businesses we work with in the process of growing your food – you are truly investing in your community!
