The difference between cow and goat milk
An increasing number of people are becoming aware that traditional cow milk may not suit them and are seeking alternatives, such as soy, almond and Goat Milk. Most Americans would not know that that goat milk is the most consumed milk in the world and has a long history of being used to treat many ailments as well. Goat milk is closer nutritionally, to cow milk than any other alternatives, and has certain physical properties that set it apart, which can impact on digestibility and health. Many people who believe they have issues with cow milk can drink goat milk without any problems, and often claim their symptoms (such as eczema; asthma; bloatedness; constipation; digestive discomfort, etc.) are reduced or disappear altogether. Reasons to consider Goats’ Milk
- Goat milk has fewer allergens and is less inflammatory
- The fats and proteins in Goat milk are easier to digest
- Goat Milk is naturally lower in lactose
- Goat milk is high in Calcium
- Goat milk is lower in Cholesterol
Among the many goat milk benefits for both men and women are its therapeutic effects on heart health, due to high levels of medium-chain fatty acids found in it. In fact, studied show there are about 30- 35% as opposed to 15 to 20 percent of medium-chain fatty acids in cow milk. Instead of being stored as body fat, these fatty acids provide an energy boost while helping lower cholesterol.
If that wasn’t enough good news, there’s more! Goat milk also helps increase “good” cholesterol levels while reducing the bad ones. In fact, it’s got healing properties similar to olive oil and is often recommended for keeping high cholesterol in check.

Goat milk contains more oligosaccharides (non-digestible carbohydrates) than cow milk, with a similar amount and structure to those found in human milk. These act as prebiotics in the gut and may help to maintain the health of the digestive tract and gut microbiome, by encouraging the growth of beneficial gut bacteria.
